What is a Paddock Cleaner?

Paddock cleaners and paddock sweepers are specialised pieces of equipment used for removing manure and other debris from fields and paddocks.

Perfect for horses, while also ideal for removing leaves, aeration cores and general debris from estates and parkland. The PC120 and PC150, with 1.2m and 1.5m working widths, easily removes muck and debris, which results in improving the hygiene, grass growth and soil health.

Powered by either a Honda GX200 petrol engine or a Honda GXE2.0 battery unit, as well as electric hopper emptying (petrol engine units only). Adjustable spring tines rake through the grass and loosen and stubborn muck or debris to ensure effective collection.

How does a Paddock Cleaner Work?

A paddock cleaner is used to remove horse manure and other debris from the paddock or pasture. It does this by vacuuming or raking up the manure and debris.

The PC series paddock cleaners make your paddock maintenance easy and efficient by featuring large wheels that allow for easy and smooth towing and follow ground contours closely and has a large hopper with an electric emptying system. The hopper has a capacity of 550L (PC120) or 700L (PC150) and can be emptied remotely using a tipping mechanism.

Paddock Cleaners FAQ

How does a paddock cleaner work?

A Paddock Cleaner works by having 4 rows of rotating bristles, powered by either a petrol engine or a battery powerpack. Towed behind a vehicle, the sweeper bristles flick the muck, dung and debris into the integrated tipping hopper. Once the hopper is full, you simply drive to where you want to tip (be it a muck heap, pile or just the edge of the field), tip and drive away ready for the next load.

How long does it take to clean a paddock?

Paddock sweeping with the PC120 or PC150 can be up to 10 times faster than manual muck collecting with a wheel-barrow. This is time that can be better used with more enjoyable aspects of horse ownership! Using a sweeper collector is also much easier and less laborious than manual or even vacuum collection.

How often should I clean my paddock?

The British Horse Society recommends removing droppings about three times a week, however this may need to be done more or less frequently depending on how many horses are in each field. Most users will be sweeping every other day during the summer months.

Why is it important to keep paddocks clean?

Paddocks kept free of droppings have a reduced worm burden and promote better grazing. You’ll also find that the sweeping action removes thatch and dead grass, ensuring better grass growth and healthier soil.

How much do our paddock cleaners hold?

The PC120 holds 550 litres, equivalent to nearly 6 wheelbarrow loads. The larger PC150 holds 700 litres, equivalent to 7 wheelbarrow loads.

Can our paddock cleaners be used on other surfaces besides grass?

Paddock Sweepers will work on almost all surfaces, but work best on grass. Bristle wear is higher on harder surfaces such as concrete, but they do a great job sweeping yards!

Do I get a warranty with my Paddock Cleaners?

All Chapman Machines come with a 2 year product warranty.

What are the delivery times on a Paddock Cleaners?

Typically the PC120 & PC150 are available from stock from our distributors, although in the busy summer months demand can mean a short wait of 2-3 weeks before a new machine is delivered to you.
